16th August 2011 it is an exciting time for residents and visitors to the Lake District as they have two fantastic events to celebrate in 2011!
Firstly, The Lake District National Park was created in 1951 and is now celebrating its 60th birthday this summer. During World War II, as doodlebugs and flying rockets fell on London, the government was determined to protect and preserve the British countryside idyll so many people were fighting for.
